We do advise all of our customers to wrap up warm when going out to sea – even if it is a warm day it can be considerably cooler on the water. Having said that, even with a breeze the sun can also be quite strong in the summer and if you out on the deck you will be fairly exposed so please do consider bringing sun cream and a hat/cap in this instance.
Sensible/practical (preferably non-slip) foot-wear is always advisable on our Boat Trips
If you are taking part in a Fishing Trip with us then old clothes/clothes you don’t mind getting a bit dirty are advisable as are wellingtons/waterproof boots and even waterproof trousers if you have them.
For our trips on the Open RIB we do provide a full set of waterproof clothing for all customers which we strongly recommend you wear for your own comfort. Life-Jackets must also be work at all time aboard our RIB boats, we will provide these and help you to don them correctly and have them available in all sizes/ages.
We provide binoculars for all our customers although you are welcome to bring your own – and of course don’t forget your camera!
Please feel free to bring any drinks/snacks that you might like aboard, especially if you are on one of our longer trips such as the Corryvreckan Tour. We provide a small refreshment and have bottles of water available for every customer
How to Find Us
All of our Boat Trips depart from the pontoons at Port Ellen Marina. We don’t have a ticket office here but one of our team will meet you at the gate to the pontoons where you can see the boats bearing our logo. Our team will have a list of who is expected on the trip and whether they have paid etc so there is no need for you to bring a physical ticket or print out with you.
As you can see from the map, it is the second set of pontoons that we depart from and our meeting point is next to the Port Ellen War Memorial. There is plenty of free parking at the Marina and also facilities such as toilets and tea/coffee machine which we encourage you to make full use of before we depart.
As well as travelling by car, you can reach us by bus – there is a bus stop at the entrance to the Marina our local Bus Timetable can be found at https://bustimes.org/services/451-ardbeg-port-askaig (it is Port Ellen -Charlotte Street)
Trips aboard our hard boats, Wave Dancer and Ileach, are fully accessible for wheel-chair users and persons of limited mobility. the entrance to the boats can be made level with the pontoons making it easy to step on/off or to take wheel chair on/off. In the case of wider wheel-chairs, the Dive Platform at the back of Wave Dancer can be used – this would be made level with the pontoon and then the height adjusted so the wheel-chair user can then access the boat.
